About Offset

The cranks of SRAM MTB specifications are all three-bolt interface, and the installation interfaces are all common. The installation interfaces of gxp, bb30, pf30, and dub are the same. Direct mount chainrings are divided into 0mm offset, 3mm offset and 6mm offset.The larger the offset of the direct mount chainring, the closer the chainring is to the frame. The purpose of the offset is to correct the chainline, which is related to the selection of the crank frame.The frame design has a limit on the number of teeth, and the number of teeth cannot be enlarged infinitely. For example, if you use a 3mm offset chainring to grind the frame, you can consider using a 0mm offset chainring, but the chainline should be on the outside (away from the frame).The chain inclination is the same after the chainring is selected and installed with the right offset.The use of low-offset direct-mounted chainring will cause a large slope on the chain with a large flywheel. The larger the chain slope, the bigger noise of the chain.
